Welcome to my blog. If you're a writer, reader, traveler, or teacher, read on and join the conversation.
I recently completed my novel manuscript, In the Shadow of the Tombs, a story about an American woman who lives in Iran during the Islamic Revolution of 1978-79.
During the revolution, I taught English in Isfahan and, a few months ago, I discovered that my mother had kept all the letters I sent during that time. My son Jason, who was the inspiration for the novel character Jacob, recently found some of the pictures he drew as a child, during the revolution. These drawings show what was going through the mind of a ten-year-old who lived through one of the 20th century's major revolutions.
In 2003 and 2004 I returned to Iran as a lecturer and kept a short journal. Part of this blog will weave together my 1978 and '79 letters sent home to Ohio, Jason's drawings, my more recent journals (2003 and '04), and my novel manuscript.
It is now time to enter that scary, dark journey in which I search for an agent and a publisher. I'll keep you posted, while you (please) keep your fingers crossed.
